On Sunday during Sacrament meeting, Brady leaned over and shared with me some inspiration he received. On a piece of paper he wrote a schedule for us as a family to get up at 6:15 a.m., read the scriptures and have family prayer. Yesterday morning he woke us all up bright and early. Most of us looked like zombies, however, we did it! And my day went so much better. I am so grateful to Brady for leading our family. Last night we had family home evening on the topic of General Conference. This coming Saturday and Sunday we will be blessed to hear from modern day prophets. We reminded the girls that the speakers are not assigned a topic, but receive personal inspiration, with much fasting and prayer. There is something for each of us to gain from General Conference. I am so excited to listen and learn. We are preparing ourselves to be taught this coming weekend. Isn't it marvelous to have modern day revelation?
Last night we tucked the kids into bed and all of them were asleep by 9:30 p.m.! So, this waking up early is a really good thing. Lauren usually has a hard time falling to sleep and is up very very late. I was so glad to see her peacefully sleeping at 9:30 p.m. Lauren cracks me up. I tuck her in bed and kiss her on the forehead. She then asks me to check her closet, under her bed and behind her mirrors in her room for any monsters. She has quiet the imagination! I just chuckle that she is having me do this when she is twelve. Too funny!
Day two of getting up this early went well. Kelsey is being very supportive of this even though it makes it so she has to get up even earlier in the morning. She has an understanding of the importance of the scriptures. I am grateful for her example to her sisters and for the righteous desires of her heart. Lauren is doing great to support us as well. I think we will learn a lot this year by studying the Book of Mormon together. I posted above the kitchen sink the three promises we have been given if we read the Book of Mormon. They are; power to resist temptation, power to avoid deception and power to stay on the straight and narrow path. We welcome these blessings into our home.
This morning Brady was getting the kids to school while I was at the dentist. Lex and Sophie were having a discussion of who was smarter. After much badgering back and forth Lex finally said to Sophie, "What is four plus four"? (keep in mind Lex is eight and Sophie is four) Sophie answered, five and Lex finally got to prove her point! Good times.
Kelsey will be joining honors chemistry next term, I wish her all the best. I admire that! She plans to apply to all the BYU Colleges her senior year. Exciting times for her ahead. I am so grateful to have Kelsey with us more. She moved back in with us this month and it has been heaven. Words cannot express the joy I felt to have her reside with us for the last 2 years of her high school years. We have lunch together every day and I am loving the time with her. I know it will go by quickly, so I am enjoying every minute of it.
Today Brooklyn spent some time on her toy matt. She is able to pull on the toy dangling in front of her. She will also try to pull herself up to the toy, which is great for her little muscles. She is getting stronger every day. She is a joy to have!
Fun to get to know our cousins a little better! Glad you are all doing well :) Your family is beautiful. You're lucky to have all those sweet girls!
